| Notes from memory 2008 "The weight of the inheritance starts to take hold. Everything needs to be created, invented. We ask ourselves what Horst would have liked, how free we are to carry things out in a certain way, what our role is. We seem to be shuffling in the dark. Are we worthy of such an inheritance? The work. We start to visit agencies that represent his work in Europe. It is a strange feeling to be representing him. We were appropriating ourselves of something we had not chosen. After the inventory, we are the two who know his photography best. With time, we ease ourselves into our role, and start to tame it. What keeps us going strong?
